Okay having just checked out the new year sales at EB, JB and Gametraders as well as my local video store.
If the PS3 is selling as well as people like to say it is, why does its shelving space mirror that of the Sega Dreamcast when it was edged out of the 128bit console before everyone actually joined in?
I am not inflating these numbers
EB: The 360 has twice as much shelf space. Even the 2nd hand 360 games get on the display rack. 2nd Hand PS3 games are piled up on their side on the bottom of the PS3's new games.
JB: The PS3 is tacked on the the end of the PS2 display rack. 1/3 PS3 2/3 PS2. The opposite side of the shelf is 360.
Game Traders: The 360 and PS3 have one equal space however the PS3 shelf is also padded out with blu ray discs.
Local video store: It's Wii heaven really so the 360 and PS3 share one display with 360 titles out numbering PS3 titles 5 to 1
I don't know what the shop fronts are like anywhere else in the world but if the PS3 is selling well the shelving arrangement its getting does stink of underhanded deals.
I'm sure Tanswell will remember the fate of Big Kev. If someone has the pockets to play dirty with Sony it would be Microsoft. Of course all this is only based on my observations of a few shops in one little city in the country thats on the ass end of the planet.

It's exactly the same wear I live. Infact one of the video stores doesnt even stock PS3 games only PS2 and xbox 360. And at both Big W and Target they have double the xbox games and equipment.

Well 'down are way' you can't move for PS3 stuff. Heavily stocked, 360 is too but seems to be losing a footing from what I see.

The Wii sells like hotcakes here, you can never find one.
Last time I saw figures the Wii sold more than the 360 and PS3 combined and the 360 sold 100,000 more units than PS3.

The Wii will win out in the short term, just depends how long this generation console war goes on. The Wii being vasyly technically inferior to the PS3 and 360 will hurt it in the long run. Especially when cross platform titles get the praise of 'The Wii version has graphics equal if not slightly superior to the PS2'
The quality of the 360 games are leaps and dounds from where they started, as the first year of 360 titles basically looked like games that were going to be released on the first Xbox. That combined with the chronic over heating fault that should never have gotten past the prototype phase.
It could just be that the PS3 just didn't get a foot hold in Australia with its $1000 price tag and had been fighting a grinding battle to catch up. Had blu ray lost the format war that certainly would have been the end of the PS3

PS3's problem is simply developers don't like starting with it because it's a pain for them at first, once they get used to it supposedly they like it better. I'm no tech geek so I can only say what I read in magazines.

I'm no tech geek so I can only say what I read in magazines.  Way to go Punsiher! Considering they stated the tentative launch date for the PS3 two days after the launch of the PS2. The PS3 lost alot of exclusive early on which I think didn't help either. Had they kept VF5 I would have nabbed a PS3 by now. I'm not Sony hating as I mentioned I have 2 PS2s plugged in. If Sony and Microsoft announce their next console too soon this will be a win for Nintendo. The Wii's gimmick controls and the whoring out of the core NES titles will only get them so far. So it would be in their best interest to keep this gen for as long as possible. I doubt anyone will be Sega Stupid and release a machine every time they make a new chip but they will burn out the market if machines come too quickly. My doom saying been said going by the shelf space still given to the PS2, I think it has another xmas left. |

The way I see it is that while the PS3 costs more to buy, in the long run 360 cost more because you have to pay for online. Most of my friends have 360's because they are cheaper.

Again whining Americans who think its cool to use more coarse lanaguage than the kids of south park are the usual turn off As much as I like games like Chromehounds I would never pay to play it online. When I have a gold memberships its because I've gotten it for free  |

I never played online, but soon as I find a long enough cord to connect the ps3 to the comp and a router so the internet and ps3 can be connected at the same time I will be taking names and kicking ass!

The Springfield files used to be one of my fav eps, I just can't stand it now. I was going to mention that snow day ep as well. Another is that freaking musical clip show episode. That one probably stands out more becuase I hate clip shows and I really hate musical numbers. Although their send up of Paint Your Wagon is amusing perhaps maybe the first two or three times you have seen it. Then again only if you have endured the actual movie. |

and yet I still sit there an watch them all on a daily basis.
As I type I'm watching the episodes where they find Smithers dead father and I actually still like this episode. Homer ringing Marge from Flanders house as burley is pricless.
