DALLAS, TX --
Move over Bret Michaels! VH1 is adding a rock star of the football field to their celeb-reality TV show roster.
Terrell Owens of the Dallas Cowboys is being filmed for a new show on the cable channel, VH1 announced on Tuesday.
“We are thrilled to bring such a great athlete, who is one of the biggest names and personalities in all the world of sports to VH1 for a surprising high octane look inside his superstar life off the field,” Jeff Olde, EVP Original Programming and Production for VH1, said in a statement.
The plot of Terrell’s show offers echoes of VH1’s 2007 series, “Scott Baio Is 45 & Single,” which found the former “Joanie Loves Chachi” star re-examining his personal life and commitment issues.
While Scott had pals Johnny V and former “Wonder Years” star Jason Hervey guiding his journey on “Scott Baio Is 45 & Single,” Owens has friends Monique Jackson and Kita Williams helping his path to self-discovery.
VH1 confirmed that the two women will work as “matchmakers and therapists” for the pigskin star.
Terrell’s show will be filmed in the off-season.
Terrell’s show is expected to feature outrageous moments, as the star has become known for not only his moves on the football field, but his outspoken nature in life.
In 2007, he attracted headlines after he suggested Jessica Simpson, the girlfriend of teammate Tony Romo, should stay away from Cowboys football games, after they lost a match-up she attended.
“Right now, Jessica Simpson is not a fan favorite — in this locker room or in Texas Stadium,” he previously said.
Terrell later clarified his comments and said he told Tony during a phone call days later that he didn’t mean the words the way they came out.
