Ever since I was a kid I have always preferred DC. I thought it was much more realistic and less over the top than Marvel. The only thing I like from Marvel is X-Men. Batman is my all time favorite. I know I'm gonna here a lot of Marvel guys here with all the symbiote talk.

I hate bring this up, cause Iknow it will cause a massive debate between us but......you do know Batman would kick Spiderman's ass right?

Hardly. Batman's not even a superhero, and he couldn't catch Spidey if he tried. And that's not the point. The beauty of Spiderman is that he's so relatable and is full of flaws. Batman has flaws too, obviously, but he's so bland, whereas Petey's so lovable.

Marvel. Marvel's character are more realistic than DC, excluding powers, they actually hide themswlves behind something other than a pair of glasses. Superman alone is enough to hate DC. The only good DC characters are Batman characters. Superman's greatest enemy is a wimpy human, seriously, a bitch slap from him should kill Luther.

But Batman such a interesting character. He's also arguably more relate able because he doesn't have any powers. Just martial arts and his own cunning. It's a good message that we don't need a lucky break to have a mutant spider bite us, that any of us can be a hero.

You have to look beyond the powers, and at the actual characters. Spiderman's a lovable nerd who struggles with real life problems, whereas Batman's an annoying rich guy with a butler. Peter wins.

No, he is correct about Batman, more so now that I know more about him. Spidey is just one step below Superman. I hate Spider-man that stupid hypocrit.

So what if Peter's a hypocrite? I mean, yet again it proves that he's human, and he pulls to hypocrisy off in a loving way. And the villains and other protagonists are all way more interesting as well.

Post by b_Pooly on Aug 28, 2008 15:27:17 GMT -5
a loving way? How so? By the way, being a hypocrit doesn't make you human, it makes you an asshole. I'm not saying that everyone shouldn't have conflicting views, but his character is deplorable.

Post by lol on Aug 28, 2008 15:31:58 GMT -5
Anything Peter does is lovable, 'cause he's so lovable himself.
And being hypocritical proves that he has regular human flaws, and that he's not the perfect guy (lovable or not lovable, it doesn't matter). The majority of people are hypocritical after all. And anyway, the good outweighs the bad. I mean, anyone who doesn't feel an emotional connection with Peter/Spidey when watching/reading something related to the franchise doesn't have a heart. Can't say the same about crappy, boring, pompous Batman.

Yes, I'm a cold hearted asshole, doesn't change the fact that Peter sucks.

Monster. :\
I'm not a huge fan, actually...I never actually read comics. I just read up about Spidey on Wikipedia, watch the movies and was quite addicted to the cartoon.

Venom was so bad ass as well.

Marvel has characters, DC has archetypes.
Parker sucks so much because he's just a clone. Or a Skrull. Okay, he also sucks because of various retcon clashes.
Question for Spider-fans, since the Devil ret-conned everyone from remembering he unmasked, do Osborn and Venom still know who he is?

Marvel, although Batman and Green Lantern are easily my favorites overall. Other than the two of them, I don't have much interest in DC. Batman aside, Marvel's characters are far superior, the storylines surrounding them as well. DC has/had more of a black and white approach to issues, whereas Marvel accepted the grey areas. I realize that sounded pretty lame, but I can't think of a better wording at the moment. They're probably more similar currently than when they were first starting up, but most of my reading of the superhero variety of comics were going through from the beginning opposed to picking up ones being released presently.

While Marvel has a better cast of heroes DC has a much better cast of comics and tell better stories.
While my favorite comic character The Punisher is Marvel I prefer to read DC.
And Laugh Out Loud, do you even know Batman? You claim he's a stuckup pompous rich guy? He isn't pompous in the slightest, he has a code of honor and morals and protects the city because he wants to, not because he feels like he's supposed to like some Spider Freak we all know. Try reading his comics instead of basing your opinion of him on the fact that he isn't Spider-Man.

I prefer Marvel, but DC has some great stuff as well. The "Identity Crisis" series from a few years back...awesome! some of the best stuff I have ever read.
And character wise, I am a huge Spider-Man fan, but I do like Batman as well. And, while I love the Spider-Man films, it appears that the current Batman series has a clear edge in quality.
However, when it comes to movies, neither company is consistent. Marvel did very well with the first 2 Spider-Man films, # 3 was a disappointment. The X-Men series was great, but could have been better. Fantastic Four sucked. Everything else has been half decent (Daredevil, Ghost Rider, The Punisher, the Blade series)
DC has definitely the crown jewel of comic movies with the current Batman series, but it all goes downhill from there. Superman Returns was a disappointment, and what else have they really done? Catwoman? Please!
So, I will vote Marvel, but this one really is like WWE and TNA...you don't HAVE to like one and not the other.

DC does have the Superman movies with Reeves, the first was great. The Batman movie they released in the sixties with Adam West, hilarity at it's finest. Then there's Swamp Thing, which is probably just a personal preference, but I thought it was quite good. Then if you count some of the divisions, Paradox Press and Vertigo, there's Road to Perdition, A History of Violence, The Fountain, Stardust, and some people seem fond enough of V for Vendetta. I'd actually give DC the edge in films (animated included) and cartoons.

I arrived on the theory Marvel only produce a decent movie/movie series if there's a wrestler in there.
X-Men, Spider-Man, Punisher, Blade (even if Trips politicked the last one into the ground) - yes
Fantastic Four, Daredevil, Ghost Rider, Hulk - No
Then the arseholes made Irom Man and Hulk 2 just to prove me wrong..

Reallly. I never noticed the wrestlers in those movies. Which one is in which? X-Men - Tyler Manes (Big Sky in WCW) was Sabretooth Spider-Man - Randy Savage as Bonesaw McGraw Punisher - Kevin Nash as a generic bad guy Blade: Trinity - Triple H as a vampire henchmen

Obviously, DC was the opposite. Some WCW guy played Bane in Batman & Robin.
