Turn into trees? No, that's being too kind. What happened was that they started to sweat Cascade dishwashing detergent, and then they turned into a man- plant hybrid that I like to call a "mlant". Then they're supposedly eaten by the goblins (as opposed to, you know, trolls), even though I don't really see how that works, since the mouth holes that were cut in the goblin masks were so small that it'd be impossible for the goblins to get anything in besides the director's tic tac- sized penis.
