Useless points so you can go online and measure your virtual penis against other nerds'.
Achievements are rather pointless unless they unlock something in the game...which very few do.
Some of the random stuff in Dead Rising can be fun to try out like Zombie bowling but when you get things like...play capture the flag 500 times its a case of why bother.

oh, I thought they where usless I had no idea how usless though. Pretty damn useless. Okay they might add a bit of longevity to a game if for no other reason than to give you something random to try out. My GS basically consists of the achievements you get by playing through the game on varying difficulties. Although I will admit I spent a bit of time trying to get "Cluster Luck" on Gears as it just gave me an excuse to mess around with grenades and boomshot |

you mean ps3 is getting that same crappy xbox feature too? lol! I'm not even bashing the xbox here, like you said it's just really lame feature. They could actually make it a decent feature for online, but they never will no matter the system. I practically gave up on those features in the GTA games as it is.

Thats just it there is money to be made as there is a large cluster of gaming nerds who like showing off their virtual penis. Now if Sony was clever they could make every game worth say 10,000 points instead of Microsoft's 1,000 points The endless jokes of 'microsoft' and 'virtual penis' would ever be so apt if PS3 gamer scores were 10x 360 scores |

It just depends what they do with it. If 360 achievements unlocked stuff I'll do them...within reason of course. People brag about surviving 7 days in Dead Rising's infinity mode...all I can say is I didn't have 14 hours of my life to waste sitting in a mall bathroom waiting for the right time to eat a raw steak. If anyone has played Dead Rising you'll know what a pointless mode infinity mode is |
