It's both. But it was the Genesis first.
Just like the SNES was originally the Super Famicom.

Famicom? Never heard of that, then again I never heard of the Mega Drive.
Jess, this argument is lame, we both know Dustis right...oh my god, that's twice in two weeks, the world is coming to an end!....Anyways, this conversation between the two of us got more lame then Draven constantly showing how much he thinks of me, yet trying to deny it.

Since someone can't stay on topic, who here can think of any system that is better thn the awesome SNES? Reasons for it would be nice too.

But your research showed that It was only called the Genesis in America and the console was invented by the chinese or Japanese so they must have called it the megadrive.

SNES was my first system, but N64 pwns it. N64 was crap. Well you know something YOU'RE CRAP!(Sorry, I had to do a billy madison joke.) Anyway I think the SNES is the best. I had a geneis(Which I played so much you cannot fathom) then I got an SNES later in life an I seriously prefer the SNES over the genesis. The only thing the Genesis has on the SNES is Sonic.

Firstly, just so y'all know, "Famicom" was the NES's Japanese name.
Also, N64 kicked ass. Here, off the top of my head, are 10 N64 games that you must play before you die:
1. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 2. Super Mario 64 3. Donkey Kong 64 4. Super Smash Bros 5. Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards 6. Goldeneye 7. Star Fox 64 8. Banjo Tooie 9. Mario Kart 64 10. Pokemon Snap

Pokemon Snap I hated 1, 9 and 10 was dumb. 6 was good as was 4.

Two questions: how were 9 and 10 dumb, and what did you think of the rest of them?

The rest?
You already commented on 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10, so technically that only leaves two. So one consitutes "the rest".
*clutches head in pain*
BTW, I wanted to ask you: why did you hate Ocarina of Time?

I'm not fond of rpg's in the first place and the story didn't really inmterest me at all, though I have heard it is one of the best. I'm not knocking thatt it isn't a good game, but it isn't for me, lol.

Same with the resident evil games, the only game I liked that was an RPG like that was BloodRayne, but sadly it never reached it's potential and never will get the chance.
