— SYNOPSIS
The team behind the global phenomenon "The Da Vinci Code" returns for the highly anticipated "Angels & Demons," based upon the bestselling novel by Dan Brown. Tom Hanks reprises his role as Harvard religious expert Robert Langdon, who once again finds that forces with ancient roots are willing to stop at nothing, even murder, to advance their goals. Ron Howard again directs the film, which is produced by Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, and John Calley.
When Langdon discovers evidence of the resurgence of an ancient secret brotherhood known as the Illuminati - the most powerful underground organization in history - he also faces a deadly threat to the existence of the secret organization's most despised enemy: the Catholic Church. When Langdon learns that the clock is ticking on an unstoppable Illuminati time bomb, he jets to Rome, where he joins forces with Vittoria Vetra, a beautiful and enigmatic Italian scientist. Embarking on a nonstop, action-packed hunt through sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs, deserted cathedrals, and even to the heart of the most secretive vault on earth, Langdon and Vetra will follow a 400-year-old trail of ancient symbols that mark the Vatican's only hope for survival. I missed out seeing the other one in theaters, if this looks as promising as the trailer did when it comes out I will go see it.

Aww, how sweet. They're cynically cosying up to the Vatican this time. Guess the money from the first one wasn't enough.

Or the fact that the entire book takes place in the Vatican, so why shouldn't the movie. Unless I'm misinterpriting your post.

I guess that could be the AUTHOR'S intention.

The first one was the shady Vatican group, now this is "save the Vatican".

Hold on canedust what you need to understand is that they are following what was written by Dan Brown. AND TECHNICALLY. Angels and Demons was written before The Da Vinci Code. Why they did it backwards is beyond me. And it's not more along the lines of save the vatican, cause if I remember correctly it takes place when a new pope is about to be crowned, all the choices vanish and end up dying, and this time period when a new pope is being determined, is when the vatican is at it's busiest. So it's basically like save everyone....and the vatican.

Yes I reccomend both although I only read the first half of angels and demons, then it vanished. I'll buy it again some day and re read it. Da Vinci Code was really good it had my interest for pretty much the entire book. Two other books that I reccomend and both became really succesful movies is Jurassic Park, and Bourne Identity. Jurassic Park the novel is completely different from the movie, in ways its the same and they use different parts of the book throughout the movie. Some characters that live in the movie actually die, or you're led to believe that they died, until Crichton kinda rewrote history with the secret the lost world. I'm gonna read that too soon. Some people that die in the movie live which is pretty cool. And the book is more graphic with details, some of the deaths are pretty gruesome and obviously they weren't going to show that during the early 90's. If you read Jurassic Park you'll know what death it is when you read it. Let me put it to you this way, a character's death is so gruesome and so memorable that I read the book in 7th grade. I'm in my second year out of highschool. It's a really good book, just reminising about it makes me want to read it again. Those four books are my favorite books since....goosebumps.

They did Da Vinci Code first because the book somehow sold 60 million copies. Angels and Demons sold maybe 10,000 and vanished before the baffling success of DVC. I knocked the Code over in one afternoon on holiday, and still don't get why it went huge.

Quality wise I mean. It was passable at best, not the literary relevation the hype implied. I only finished it because the other guys were determined to finish Bloody Roar and I couldn't get near the Game Cube.

Never gave my thoughts on this movie.... it was just horrible. What a disappointment. It was ok compared to most movies, but really after reading both books I see how much better it could have been. They really butchered the story. I will say I read a review from a British magazine that said (in the reviewer's opinion) this was better than Da Vinci Code because it wasn't as complex and went straight to the action. Both books have a hell of a lot more action than this movie.... Now for some changes in the movie:
They got rid of the Arabian guy... so he was a twisted rapist, the guy was a great example of how terrorists and people in general crap all over the religions they supposedly follow.
The female lead was also just a shell of what she was in the book. Then again, she's tossed aside within the first page or so of Da Vinci Code.....
The priest has a better story in the book.... even has a virgin mother.
Personally I liked The Book Angels and Demons over the Da Vinci Code.though both were ridiculously easy to read. the only difficulty in either book is the French in Da Vinci code. Neither is probably the best book ever written, but in my opinion both were pretty good.
