USA's OCD PI will be MIA after upcoming season; 16-episode final run will debut next summer.
"Your computer monitor is filthy!"

After eight long seasons, Mr. Monk will be done keeping the streets safe sometime next year. The USA Network has announced that it has picked up its long-running comedy for an eighth season that will serve as a fond farewell for the revered cable show; this season will be its last.

Monk, which stars Emmy mainstay Tony Shalhoub as an obsessive-compulsive private investigator, has been one of USA's original programming cornerstones and first premiered in 2002. Shalhoub has taken home three Emmys for his portrayal as the quirky dick, and has been nominated a total of six times. Season eight will debut sometime next summer.

"We want to build to a spectacular conclusion for this wonderful show," said USA VP Jeff Wachtel in a statement. "By many measures, Monk is the most successful series in the history of basic cable television--and it was certainly the original tentpole of our 'character' brand. Our fans have been extremely dedicated, and season eight should prove to be a very satisfying reward."

Damn good show though.

And my dad still likes the show. My only obsessive complusion is making sure the car door is locked and the house is locked and secure.

Unfortunate really as I actually liked it.
