A spokesman for Gaza's border crossing with Egypt says the Egyptians are going to open the passage on Sunday so students and residents of Arab countries stranded in Gaza can leave.
It was not clear how many people would be allowed to pass through the Rafah border crossing. But at least 3,000 students and Arab nationals have applied to leave Gaza.
Border spokesman Adel Zourab says the Rafah border crossing will be open for three days.
There was no immediate word from Egypt.
Egypt sealed the border after Islamic Hamas militants seized control of Gaza in June 2007. It has occasionally cracked open the passage.
Rafah is Gaza's main gateway to the outside world.
