'Melrose Place' Pilot Is a Go Oscar winner Davis Guggenheim will direct February 24, 2009 'Melrose Place' The pilot for The CW's "Melrose Place" revamp has gotten the green light. The network ordered up a pilot of the updated '90s melodrama and has set Oscar winner Davis Guggenheim to direct it, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Just like "90210," the update of the popular teen soap "Beverly Hills, 90210," The CW is hoping that using the "Melrose Place" formula -- attractive 20somethings living in a trendy apartment complex in Los Angeles' Melrose neighborhood -- will work in current times. # 'Melrose Place' Alumni We'd Like to See Return # 'One Tree Hill' Creator Moves into 'Melrose Place' # Check Your Local TV Listings Tapping Guggenheim to direct is a curious choice, but his work ranges from helming the eye-opening documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" and gritter fare such as "Deadwood" and "24" to lighter stuff like "Party of Five." More importantly, Guggenheim is married to actress Elisabeth Shue, which makes him the brother-in-law of "Melrose" alum Andrew Shue. CBS Paramount will produce, and original "Melrose" writers Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin will act as showrunners/executive producers, along with Guggenheim who will also executive produce. www.zap2it.com/tv/news/zap-melrose-place-pilot-greenlight-davisguggenheim,0,2802459.story hmmm, not sure about this. Its a bit past its prime, and it never was the knotts landing to Dallas in the 90210 comparison.

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz Moves In to Melrose By Breanne L. Heldman Mon Mar 9, 11:10 AM PDT Pete Wentz had better get used to spending quality time with baby Bronx. His wife is going to be busy for a while. Ashlee Simpson-Wentz has been cast in the CW's Melrose Place redux. "I'm thrilled to be joining the cast of Melrose Place and I look forward to being a part of its new generation of residents," she said in a statement. The "Pieces of Me" singer, who was once a regular on 7th Heaven and appears alongside her husband in the March 18 episode of CSI: NY, will play Violet Foster, a Spokane, Wash., gal who hops on the bus to Los Angeles the day after she graduated. Violet is described as having a sex appeal she's not afraid to use to her advantage and a seeming small-town naiveté that masks her shrewd, plotting nature. Such a description draws obvious comparisons to Amy Locane's blond Sandy Harling in the original series, but there's no telling what hue kaleidoscope-haired Simpson-Wentz will take for Violet. The singer-actress-mamacita joins Supernatural's Katie Cassidy and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants actor Michael Rady in the luxury apartment building. tv.yahoo.com/show/143/news/urn:newsml:tv.eonline.com:20090309:103383__ER:74927;_ylt=AtajOT2JGUOEID9LLyXWaIP6o9EFeuh! 'Melrose Place' exclusive: Heather Locklear won't join reboot Mar 18, 2009, 05:38 PM | by Dan Snierson Categories: TV Biz One person who won't be moving back into Melrose Place? Heather Locklear. The actress -- who played the key role of Amanda Woodward on the original series -- has turned down an offer to join the cast of the CW's update of the hit Fox serial, EW has learned. "There wasn't a way to bring her back that made sense," says a source close to the situation. While the network and studio won't comment, her reps do confirm that Locklear has passed. It's no secret that the CW was aggressively pursuing Locklear and will likely want to secure another star from the original show. The reboot, which is slated for the fall, has already cast Ashley Simpson-Wentz, Jessica Lucas, Michael Rady, and Katie Cassidy hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2009/03/exclusive-heath.html well thats good! it has a chance with out the queen of killing shows!
