Well in defence of the storm troopers they were not as bad as the droid army
Case and point from Phantom Menace
Sidious orders: "Wipe them out...all of them!"
So what does that mean? Well to a battle droid it means stand around in a circle with your guns pointed at jar jar and co and wait...and wait...and wait. We never found out their masterful plan in the end as someone was dumb enough to put the control ships main reactor in the middle of the docking bay
