Badhairmug Sometimes we find crimes that are so dumb that it doesn't much matter what the perp looks like. Sometimes, you get such a goofy-looking police booking photo, that it doesn't really matter what the crime was. And, other times, you get a beautiful, horrible combination of both.
Which is what we have here.
Meet Michael Shoemaker, who was arrested this weekend by Maryland State Police on a charge of making a threat of arson. To look at him, you wouldn't think he'd be the kind of fella whose hairstyle afforded him a great deal of comfort around open flame, but that's not the dumbest part of the story.
The house he allegedly threatened to burn down belonged to his own son, who called the police after his father and his 17-year-old brother broke in and took a dog. The sibling was arrested for burglary and theft. This is sort of too bad, seeing as the minor's grandfather, Robert Shoemaker (Michael's father), had also rushed to the scene where he was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Sadly, the youngest Shoemaker's status as a minor appeared to have soured the rare opportunity to take part in a multi-generational series of mug shot photos, all taken in one night. As we know, spending time with one's family is difficult enough to plan, but doing time together is almost impossible.
