www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30001026/‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ leaked online A high-quality, full-length work print appeared online Tuesday
LOS ANGELES - “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” isn’t due in theaters until next month, but the prequel has already hacked its way online.
A high-quality, full-length work print of the 20th Century Fox film, which is set for release May 1, appeared online Tuesday. The film focuses on the beginnings of Hugh Jackman’s clawed Marvel superhero Wolverine.
Fox said in a statement Wednesday the version of the film posted online was not complete and vowed that the source would be prosecuted. It said the FBI and MPAA are investigating.I am actually watching it right now....it's funny to see some of the shots where a computer mannequin pops up instead of an actor, lol

interesting little story i found in conjunction with this... www.deadlinehollywooddaily.com/exclusive-fox-news-fires-showbiz-columnist-for-encouraging-piracy/ EXCLUSIVE: Fox News Fires Showbiz Columnist For "Promoting" Piracy
Updates FBI Joins Fox In Hunt For Stolen 'Wolverine' Pirated On Web
News Corp like all major Hollywood studios takes the crime of piracy very seriously. Nor will the Fox parent company tolerate it if its employees don't. Especially after a stolen, early and unfinished work print of 20th Century Fox's big summer blockbuster X-Men Origins: Wolverine was put onto the Internet illegally this week in a major scandal that the FBI is now investigating. So there was universal shock on Friday when long-time "Fox 411" freelance columnist Roger Friedman wrote his bosses felt was a blatant promotion of piracy on his Fox web News outlet. Besides a good review of Wolverine, Freidman posted, “I did find the whole top 10 [movies in theaters], plus TV shows, commercials, videos, everything, all streaming away. It took really less than seconds to start playing it all right onto my computer. I could have downloaded all of it but really, who has the time or the room? Later tonight I may finally catch up with Paul Rudd in I Love You, Man. It’s so much easier than going out in the rain!” I'm told that Fox News' actions were swift and severe. Roger Ailes, who overseas Fox News, deleted the offending post after he was contacted by 20th Century Fox, and then fired Friedman as a freelance Fox News entertainment writer. I hear the move was done with the full support of News Corp. "He promoted piracy. He basically suggested that viewing a stolen film is OK, which is absolutely intolerable. So we fired him," a source told me Saturday. "Fox News acted promptly on all fronts."
Friedman has written his gossip column, "Fox 411", for FoxNews.com for more than a decade and peppers it with gossip items, industry news, and off-the-cuff movie reviews. He has long been a controversial writer who quite frequently angers the publicity machine surrounding celebrities, movies and TV. He has been both condemned and praised for years. Still, he must have known how his writings Friday would have hit a nerve with his employers. After Friedman's column on FoxNews.com appeared, both News Corp and Fox condemned it as "promoting a pirated version of Wolverine".
News Corp issued this statement: “Roger Friedman’s views in no way reflect the views of News Corporation. We, along with 20th Century Fox Film Corporation, have been a consistent leader in the fight against piracy and have zero tolerance for any action that encourages and promotes piracy. Once we learned of Roger Friedman’s post we asked Fox News to remove it, which they did immediately.”
And Fox said, "We’ve just been made aware that Roger Friedman, a freelance columnist who writes Fox 411 on Foxnews.com – an entirely separate company from 20th Century Fox -- watched on the internet and reviewed a stolen and unfinished version of X-Men Orgins: Wolverine. This behavior is reprehensible and we condemn this act categorically -- whether the review is good or bad."

Hugh Jackman heartbroken over 'Wolverine' leak Published: 4/8/09, 4:45 PM EDT SYDNEY (AP) - Hugh Jackman said Wednesday that he is heartbroken his new film, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," was leaked online a month before its official release.
The movie, which focuses on the beginnings of Jackman's clawed Marvel superhero Wolverine, is not scheduled for release in the U.S. until May 1, but a work print of the film began appearing online last week. 20th Century Fox said the FBI and Motion Picture Association of America were investigating and promised to prosecute those responsible.
The Australian actor, in Sydney to unveil 20 minutes of completed footage of the film to around 600 fans, said he was upset about the leak but still thinks fans will flock to see the movie in theaters.
"It's a serious crime and there's no doubt it's very disappointing - I was heartbroken by it," Jackman said. "Obviously people are seeing an unfinished film. It's like a Ferrari without a paint job."
Jackman is on a world tour to promote the movie, making his first stop at Cockatoo Island in Sydney Harbor, where much of the film was shot. He arrived at the venue by helicopter before swooping to the ground on a zipline. my.att.net/s/editorial.dll?bfromind=7458&eeid=6496475&_sitecat=1479&dcatid=0&eetype=article&render=y&ac=3&ck=&ch=en&_lid=332&_lnm=todays+guide+entertainment+movies

Friday Report: ‘Wolverine’ Rages on First Day by Brandon Gray Hugh Jackman in X-Men Origins: Wolverine
May 2, 2009
On Friday, X-Men Origins: Wolverine kicked off the summer movie season with an estimated $35 million on approximately 8,300 screens at 4,099 locations. That ranks as the 16th highest-grossing opening day ever (and 22nd when ticket-price inflation is factored). The gross includes nearly $5 million from its first midnight shows at around 2,000 sites.
Compared to past summer season first days, Wolverine was the fourth biggest, behind Spider-Man 3, Spider-Man and Iron Man, which garnered $35.2 million on the same Friday last year (not including $3.5 million in Thursday night previews). X2: X-Men United comes in fifth with $31.2 million, although, adjusted for ticket price inflation, it would rate a bit higher than Wolverine with over $37 million. Based on the patterns of past similar movies, Wolverine is headed for an over $80 million weekend.
looks like it should have impressive numbers, even if all the internet fanboys are ripping it apart...

(Entertainment Weekly) -- It couldn't top its predecessors, but "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" still brought in quite a haul, grossing an estimated $87 million for the opening weekend of the summer movie season. Hugh Jackman stars as the title character in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."
Hugh Jackman stars as the title character in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."
The Hugh Jackman pic brought in a strong $21,225 per-theater average in 4,099 movie houses, despite generating mixed reviews. The film fell $15 million short of 2006's "X-Men: The Last Stand" but it is still an enormous success for Jackman and director Gavin Hood.
Matthew McConaughey's "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" generated an estimated $15.3 million for a second place bow.
It's not a shabby opening but it is far less than McConaughey's previous romantic outings including last year's "Fool's Gold" ($21.6 million) or 2006's "Failure to Launch" ($24.2 million). (Perhaps women were too busy checking out all those hunky mutants this weekend?) The two new openers did help the industry maintain its year-over-year increase of 16 percent.
Also aiding that statistic was Beyonce Knowles' "Obsessed." Dropping a not-surprising 57 percent for its second weekend in theaters, the thriller earned another $12.2 million to put its ten-day gross at a shockingly strong $47 million.
And Zac Efron's "17 Again" showed surprising stamina, too, grossing an additional $6.3 million its third weekend for a total take of $48.4 million.
The other new wide release for the weekend was the anemic 3-D animated sci-fi film "Battle for Terra." Opening on 1162 theaters, the Justin Long, Evan Rachel Wood-voiced feature proved to be little competition for the other 3-D movie in the marketplace.
Dreamworks Animation's juggernaut "Monsters vs. Aliens" grossed another $5.8 million its sixth weekend for the fifth slot in the rankings, while newcomer "Terra" couldn't muster more than $1 million for a twelfth place in the box office derby.
Summer has officially begun -- at least in Hollywood -- so expect a giant event film every weekend. Wolverine may have bowed mightily but with "Star Trek" hot on its heels next weekend, the Marvel superhero is going to need more than adamantium to maintain its box office lead. www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/Movies/05/03/boxoffice.ew/index.html?iref=mpstoryview
