We all know how much Gamestop and co love to rip you off.
I got tired of them and their sneaky little tactics to get money off of you and quit going. This thread is for people who have some shitty experiences, share them.
Here's mine.
I was going to one to get Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe a few months back and I was trying to save money and get it used but it costed 55 fucking dollars. The brand new version was 60 dollars, I was like "Fuck it, just give me the new one". Why even put used games on the shelf if the price difference from that and brand new is very small? They always pester me to reserve some game I don't care about, or they'll pester me to subscribe to Game Informer magazine, or they'll bug the hell out of me to buy an Edge Card (And I already have one)
One time I was buying Street Fighter 4 and here is what happened:
GS Clerk: Would you like to reserve Guitar Hero Metallica? Me: No. Clerk: Would you like to buy an Edge Card? Me: Already have one. Clerk: Would you like another one? Me: No. Clerk: I seen you reading that magazine earlier, would you like a subscription to Game Informer? Me: No, I was only reading because I was bored. Clerk: It can help you beat a game and it gives you tips. Me: I don't care, I just want to buy Street Fighter 4. Clerk: Would you like to reserve another copy of Street Fighter 4? Me: NO! Just give me the game!
I was seriously getting pissed off. Plus they will barely give you any money for a game you trade in but then charge it for 50 dollars for other people to buy. Why didn't they give me 50 dollars for giving it to them? Bullshit.

There is no Gamestop here, otherwise I'd have an extra car in Burnour Revenge Anyhoos EB is just as bad with their 2nd hand prices, extended warranties and scratch insurance. Nothing like a snooty attitude from a sales clerk over the refusal to buy scratch insurance

I avoid EB at all costs so no stories from me. EB is usually my 4th port of call when it comes to game shopping.

It's not even that for me.
But that is basically because the nearest one to me is 110km away and the only thing I get there is gamer points and Big W is usually $30 to $40 cheaper then eb anyways.

I went to EB with 2 of my mates once and one of them was trading some of his games in. He handed like 5 games 2 the guy and the guy looked at them and said all up the 5 where worth $60 so my friend said no I dont wanna sell them.
The Guy said youve already handed them to me and thus have already traded them. My mate went of his head told the guy he was a fuckhead and that if he didnt give the games back he was gonna knock his head off and the guy still refused and then they wouldnt even give him the money they gave him an EB instore card with $60 credit on it.
Then last week at the very same EB games I was asked to leave for outloud saying what a rip off they where when the store was packed. They where selling pre owned copies of Halo wars for $95 and I only paid $70 for mine and it was the limited edition there pre owned limited edition they wanted $110.

your friend should have called the cops, there is no deal until both agree on it.

your friend should have called the cops, there is no deal until both agree on it. Yeah he is a bit stupid. After the whole argument they made him sign a form saying he had sold them the games and the dickhead signed it. If I was still there I would have told the dick not to sign the forms but I got embarresed when he is full on yelling at the guy in a packed mall so I walked off.

I can't think of any bad ones, but awkward. There was a clerk idling while we were checking out and he for some reason felt the need to converse. He went on forever about Kyle Rayner while I just politely nodded. Then he informed me that he had a green sebring that he calls Hal. I think it might have meant to be a chat up line, but I hope not.

The price difference in Gamer Points has always puzzled me but I guess it costs so much more to deliver the little plastic cards an extra 20 meters. I have found EB is the most expensive place to buy them.

EB is like the only place within a few 100kms of where I live that sells points.

I have no problem with gamestop. I don't care if the used brand new games are 55 dollars. Because they are usually that expensive during the first month of release. I never have problems at gamestop I'm always friendly and respectful to the clerks and they treat me the same way. ALLLLLLLTHOUGH one time someone was just starting there I was nineteen at the time trying to buy a mature game without ID he refused to sell it to me without ID so I called him a fat fuck left came back had the ID down and I said don't you dare ever make me drive back home to get this again you are the only person to have ever ID'ed me a good portion of your used mature games were mine and too remember my face and remember I'm 19.

I try to be friendly to them but some of them are just complete dicks, I heard the managers get paid more for doing nothing than the actual people that work do.
So perhaps they are pissed about that and take it out on the customers.

I don't think they pay much attention to age restrictions here.
I think the last games to stir up a fuss were BMX XXX and Manhunt both of which were taken off the shelf and later replaced with toned down versions.
The outrage behind Mass Effect didn't get here because well it was just a butt. Personally I would have been more concerned about kids being confronted the sometimes hazy moral choices you have to make in the game

Yeah age restrictions have never really been inforced over here when it comes to games. I was hiring MA games when I was like 8.
