Rodriguez Confirms Predators Rumor Troublemaker will produce, but the search is on for a new writer and director. by Cindy White
May 6, 2009 - Robert Rodriguez confirmed to IGN that he is looking for a new writer and director for a proposed reboot of the Predator franchise. Earlier this week, Bloody-Disgusting reported a scoop that Alex Litvak (Medieval) had been hired on to rewrite Rodriguez's original script, titled Predators.
In an interview with IGN to promote the recent Blu-ray release of Sin City, Rodriguez didn't name names, but said that he will be involved in the film in a producing capacity only.
"We're hiring new writers and a director and I'm going to produce it over at Troublemaker with Fox to try and reboot the series in a really great way," Rodriguez told IGN. "So I'm not sure if we're going to follow the old script or keep that title. At this point, it's still early on."
The multi-hyphenated filmmaker also revealed that the non-sequel will go back to the franchise's origins and will have little to do with the Alien vs. Predator films of the last few years.
"This is something else," he said. "This is more like the first movie, but in a new way. Just rebooting the series in a whole new way. Not a remake, but more like what they did with the Batman series. They just started over. You know? Let's just start over using a different approach to it. We'll take the character everybody loves, but let's rethink it and make it for the time. Because the first one was made 20-plus years ago. So you want to do something more updated."
There's no cast in place at this time, either, but Rodriguez said, he has "a few ideas." movies.ign.com/articles/980/980078p1.htmlI know this is not entirely related to comics, but placed here as there have been comics made (from Dark Horse) in the past.

Well ignoring Predator 2 and AvP 1&2 would hardly be a crime

Personally, I loved both Predator movies.... the first was far superior. Predator 2 did have its moments but can you really take an alien killing machine seriously when it utters..."Want some candy?" On the plus side Bill Paxton has been taken out by a Terminator, Alien and a Predator

Lets never mention Bill Paxton again.
The best part of the movie was him going around asking that before he killed the people!!!!!!!
Ok, so he did it like twice on the subway, I laughed each time though, priceless.

I see why anyone ould think it was stupid, I just thought it was funny because
1. he got it from a kid playing with a toy gun, so I assume he thought it was some sort of battle cry 2. If he was human people would think he was psychotic 3. In a way it's kind of cruel 4. he's a 7ft alien asking people if they want candy before he kills them!
I will admit, if they couldn't pull off the money for a sequel or prequel, they should of had a different ending... then again Preds in the old west would have been stupid anyways.... not funny stupid, just stupid.
I love when movies do that, like Planet of the Apes for example. I believe the last one takes place in 97 as well. It amuses me to see how far off the movie is from how things really are at that given time.
Didn't one of the back to the future movies take place in 2010?
lol

The human character(s) would no doubt win eventually so that would mean a ball baring would accomplish what a fully loaded minigun could not. Pretty much like all the comic book Cross Overs with insert blank vs Predator, the Predator is going to lose and look like a wuss in the process.

that's just sad... hey, have you seen the movie clip? where he beats the crap out of three of them?
lol
I'm surprised they never teamed up. Batman has a no killing rule, but I'm sure that can be worked around or over looked.... ;D
