It's not really that big an accomplishment when you factor in that there are only 2 teams ;D

It is massive if you actually follow the sport and know the history of the series.

It is massive if you actually follow the sport and know the history of the series. Again with there being only 2 teams its not that big a deal Remember the arguments we had about the 6 nations rugby and team Ireland.

I'm not claiming QLD is the best in the world I'm just telling everyone how much better they are then NSW.

It's a series between two rivals so NO they dont need to be better then more one team.
In a battle that is to see who is better out of QLD and NSW one team only needs to defeat the other not beat multiple other states.

Okay granted it would probably 95% of the time come down to Qld vs NSW but they didn't dispand the NHL when for decades it was basically Montreal vs Toronto

Victoria who has the next biggest league influx after QLD and NSW only has something like 6 or 7 actual victorian players in the nrl and the rest have been brought in from nsw qld and New Zealand and as far as the rest of the states go I think there is 1 player from NT and 1 from WA and they dont even have club sides in the NRL. The NRL is talking of once again expanding into Perth and Darwin in 2013 so really another state entering is a long long way off. There is the possability of the north and south Islands of New Zealand getting involved though.

If they made the state of origin a national comp like a world cup sort of deal I'm sure it would spark interest. The VFL/AFL state of origin was big before WA and SA got teams in the regular competition, after that it became rather pointless as supposedly the best those two states had to offer were already playing in the weekly competition

Maybe they could start a second league with WA, SA and NT in it and let them build some sort of junior base and after a few years they may be able to throw a team into a comp that may actually be able to threaten QLD or NSW. Then we just have to stop NSW from claiming the very few Victorian players as there own and there is a chance of a natinal state comp barring Tasmania.
