Warner Brothers to make LEGO: The Movie
In a world in which Hasbro's Transformers and G.I. Joe are adapted into movies that gross hundreds of millions of dollars, to say nothing of sales of DVDs and tie-in products, it seems inevitable that more movies based on toy lines should be on the way. But… a movie based on LEGO?
According to a report in Variety, Warner Brothers is developing a movie based on the interlocking blocks that will be a "family comedy that will mix live action and animation." The movie will be produced by Roy Lee, the king of the Hollywood remakes, who has previously made, or remade, The Ring, The Grudge, Dark Water, The Lake House, The Invasion and Shutter in addition to the Oscar-winning remake The Departed. Lee and screenwriters Dan and Kevin Hageman have reportedly been working closely with the Danish toy company to create the premise for the film.
With Major Matt Mason, Stretch Armstrong, View-Master and Hot Wheels movies also in the works, it looks like toy adaptations might be the new trend in movies, supplanting remakes. The new He-Man movie will, admirably, manage to be both a toy adaptation and a remake.dvice.com/archives/2009/08/warner-brothers.php

I don't think every movie has to be an award winner or a thousand times better than everything that came before to be considered good like most people seem to think, but I will say, whoever thought of this, needs to be shot.

Director's are stupid sheep. They follow the trends hoping their pockets will get bigger. I rather make something I enjoy making, and I actually try to make good, instead of pandering to the casual sheep who see ads for this crap on television and want to see it.
Maybe someday, man can make good movies once again........... One can only hope.

Believe it or not I've heard word of even a Monopoly and Candy Land movie I heard the same thing a while back. Risk and Battleship were mentioned too. A Candy Land movie could be really good. The board game lends a lot that would translate well. Monopoly could be done similar to Wall Street. Battleship could be a generic war movie and Risk speaks for itself. They also should totally do Hungry Hungry Hippos. It'd be hilariious.

And yet they shelved...TETRIS THE MOVIE! Despite being a kiddie movie based on a toyline the first Lego Bionicle movie is surprisingly good. It is basically a retelling of the story of Jobe and this time God doesn't come across as being a dumbass for smiting an innocent guy just to prove a point. Told a bible story better than the bible.

Only thing though with Battleship you basically have the same thing with Hunt For Red October and don't think the "You Sunk My Battleship" line wouldn't go over that well

Too true. They would have to get Steven Segal to do it. His movies are filled with cheesy lines. It's what makes them great.
