Police are trying to discover how a man came to be found naked and severely burnt in a road. Tomasz Morawiak, 24, was found on Barrowby Road in Grantham, Lincolnshire, at about 10.20pm on Saturday. The Polish man was treated at Grantham Hospital and Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre before being transferred to a specialist burns unit in Selly Oak hospital, Birmingham. Lincolnshire Police said he remains in the hospital's intensive care unit, where his condition is believed to be life-threatening with 70-80% burns to his body. A spokesman said an investigation has been launched to find out what happened to the man, who lived in Norton Street, Grantham. Police have informed some of Mr Morawiak's relatives and his mother is travelling from Poland to be with him. Detective Inspector Helen Evans, of Grantham CID, said officers had still not found his clothes and urged homeowners and businesses to check their properties and gardens. She said: "We need to speak to anyone who knows what may have happened to this man. "Presently, he is sedated and we are unable to speak to him. We need to trace anyone who may have seen him in the area of Barrowby Road and Saint Augustin Way, Grantham, between 10.10pm and 10.20pm on Saturday night. "We have not yet found his clothing and I would appreciate it if residents and businesses in the area would check their properties and gardens for any discarded clothing."news.uk.msn.com/uk/article.aspx?cp-documentid=149222093&ocid=todayMy town is getting worse.

Tuesday, 5.50pm - SHOCKED Ben Pacey opened his front door on Saturday night to find Tomasz Morawiak begging for help. Mr Pacey, 27, of Barrowby Road, made sure his four young children, aged six months, two, four and six, were in bed then quickly invited him inside.
He first suspected Mr Morawiak had been attacked and mugged but soon realised he had suffered horrendous burn injuries..
Mr Pacey, a former landlord of Churchills in Wharf Road, said: "I couldn't see his injuries at first because it was so dark but as soon as he came in there was a stench of burning flesh. The smell was something you just couldn't imagine - so strong. I've never known anything like it.
"He was so polite and just kept saying 'please can you help me, please, please'.
"I sat him down in the front room and got him some damp towels. I asked him if he smoked and he said yes so I gave him a cigarette while we waited for the ambulance.
"When the police arrived they took my chair cushions away for analysis because they were stained with blood."
Mr Morawiak was fully conscious throughout his time in Mr Pacey's home and the pair struck up something of a friendship in that short time.
Mr Pacey said: "I would like to get to know him afterwards.
"I've been phoning the hospital twice a day just to see if he had pulled through. He is in a coma but I'm still going to keep calling.
"If I could get out to Birmingham I would to be there for him. The guy is away from his family and my heart goes out to him.
"He was a lovely bloke and I keep thinking about how polite he was even though he must have been in so much pain."www.granthamjournal.co.uk/news/Burns-victim-pleaded-for-help.5565170.jp

BURNS victim Tomasz Morawiak is out of a coma and is no longer in intensive care, police have announced this week. Mr Morawiak suffered horrendous burns on August 15 and has been receiving treatment at Solihull Hospital in Birmingham ever since.
Mystery still surrounds how the Polish national came to suffer his injuries but police are hoping to be able to talk to Mr Morawiak soon.
In late August, detectives said they believed he had been set alight on land off Barrowby Road, leading to Campbell Close.
Lincolnshire Police spokesman James Newall said: "He has regained consciousness and is in a stable condition. He is receiving constant treatment for burns to 83 per cent of his body.
"Officers are hoping to talk to the victim as soon as possible to try to establish exactly what happened."
Immediately after the incident police arrested seven men in connection with Mr Morawiak's injuries. They remain on bail until police can speak to Mr Morawiak and discover what happened that night.
Ben Pacey, of Barrowby Road, took Mr Morawiak in, despite having never met him previously, after he banged on his door, pleading for help.
Mr Pacey regularly checked up on the condition of Mr Morawiak and was already aware of his upturn in fortunes.
He said: "I was told by the hospital that he was out of a coma and had been moved to the burns unit. I asked for a contact number but couldn't get one so I gave them my number to pass along to him.
"I still get people mentioning it now when I walk down the street. They say they are glad I did something about it but what else could I have done? I couldn't just leave him there."
The night Mr Morawiak suffered his injuries Mr Pacey took him in, offered him a cigarette and made him comfortable until the emergency services arrived.
Ben said: "Our sofa was covered in blood and the police took away the cushions as evidence - we still haven't got them back.
"Luckily, our land lady has been great and she has given us a replacement sofa."www.granthamjournal.co.uk/news/Mystery-fire-victim-emerges-from.5886065.jp
