www.news.com.au/technology/story/0,28348,25951017-5014239,00.html Well they say less than $500 so $499.95 but then again the PSOne and the PS2 Slim were both $50 more than the supposed price quoted prelaunch so lets just go with $500, which is still $100-$150 more than a 360. The way this is being run you would almost think the PS3 was being marketed by Sega.

Now you guys are really getting ripped as 250 pounds would be about $600+ AUS Suddenly Sony being the TNA of the console war is surprisingly apt

EB has pre orders set at $499.95 so it looks like they actually quoted to right price this time. However the chunky PS3 is still at $688. Maybe if the UMD hadn't tanked quite so badly Sony would be in a better position to absorb a loss and really slash prices.

Found it suprising that they have a 120GB hard drive.

Well things are looking up as they also stated that slim will be backwards compatible with the PS2 the same way the 360 works with xbox games via the download of an update

Dunno why but now that the Slim is being released all the stores around here are now selling the original console for $380. So the newer cheaper PS3 is actually now the more expensive version.
and in another note at big w here now both the PS2 and PSP sections are larger then the PS3 sectionand the Xbox and wii sections are bigger then all the Sony games combined.

I'm not surprised Last time I checked the chunky PS3 was still $650+ Poor Sony just can't get a break
