78-year-old Albany woman sentenced to prison in DWI conviction Comments 1 | Recommend 0 May 06, 2010 5:00 PM Michelle Kim ALBANY -- A 78-year-old woman has been sentenced to prison and $15,000 restitution in her conviction for a August 2009 drunk driving accident that crushed a woman working at a day care center, Albany County District Attorney David Soares announced Thursday. Marion Albert was sentenced to 2 1/3 to 7 years in state prison for the March 2010 ten-count conviction, including aggravated vehicular assault, reckless endangerment, and aggravated driving while intoxicated. Albert had pleaded guilty to the indictment stemming from the Aug. 20, 2009, incident, in which she backed her truck out of her driveway near Second and Quail Sts., floored it across the street and up over the curb, and into a day care center, said Soares. The truck broke through the wall of the day care, and partially into the room where infants were located, said Soares. A woman was crushed by the truck, and suffered a left femur fracture and hip fracture requiring surgery and ongoing treatment. Albert had a blood alcohol content level of .25 percent at the time, said Soares. The Albany grandmother had previously been convicted for backing out of her driveway intoxicated and toward the day care center, according to Soares. Albert was convicted on June 9, 2009, for the DWI incident in May; her BAC at that time measured .18 percent. www.cbs6albany.com/news/woman-1273622-soares-day.htm 8-)l

I think a recent case happened last week in LA. My sister works for a DUI lawyer and told me about this. Was looking for more information on it and that’s how I got to know about this post. Quite strange things and not so uncommon.
