TLDR?
I know this is a message board, but people take their right to be a geek way too far sometimes.... Maryse is a she beast, case closed.
To be honest, I'm sure most people from other countries would find the crap we call an education to be a joke. I pretty much bombed the 6th grade, ended up with a 3.8 gpa in middle school, bombed 9th grade, graduated with a 3.6.

I barely even went to middle school, hell, I pretty much left the 7th grade early and came back in the 8th, and I still ended up leaving middle school with all A's.

Does anyone know whether Malfunkshun and BFizzle read this thread? Also if anyone knows their thoughts on the length of it that'd be great, thanks.

If you speak English you don't really need to worry about anything else as it will just annex the words that it needs.
The entire Latin dialect is apart of the English language.
The EU has adopted English as its official language
3/7 G7 nations have English as their official language
The only thing to be worried about is the Chinese emerging as an economic powerhouse. So maybe they should be teaching Cantonese in high schools

I'm not saying learning a 2nd language is useless but again, I think it honestly depends on what field you are going in. Having knowledge of a second language is invaluable no matter which field you enter into to be honest. Even if it's say nursing or investments or sports coaching. Having access to another language opens more doors for employment and development. I agree completely. I know my life would have been much easier thus far if I had known Spanish.

lol, what is everyone's issue with the French? French is sexy. I took 3 years of French in High School and it has helped me ONCE in my lifetime, where if I spoke Spanish, I can name a dozen plus places I could have used it!

Everything they sell in the U.S. now just about is in English and Spanish, if I can an 800 # some times I get Spanish before English options and just about everywhere I go, there is someone at least someone speaking Spanish and I'm not even in a major metro area. Chinese I don't want to learn, I've heard it is extremely difficult, I don't have the aptitude at this point in my life for it.

Spain has essentially been in economic ruin since the expulsion of the Jewish merchant class. This is an affliction passed throughout the 'Spanish Empire' which basically consists of South and Central American 2nd and 3rd world countries. Maybe you should check out your government's economic policy towards Mexico and China and see which horse they are backing. Also take into consideration the US has no trouble stomping on countries south of the border when they step out of line but will run away / turn a blind eye when China essentially gives them the middle finger. Even taking China on by proxy didn't work out to well.

Chinese I don't want to learn, I've heard it is extremely difficult, I don't have the aptitude at this point in my life for it. But you just said the key words. Things are still in English AND Spanish, not one or the other. So it's not like you were/are screwed over just because numerous things now are in Spanish over here. English is still the majority language here. Yes Spanish is the 2nd language but it is the second language and it's that for a reason. Not only that, but when people come here for say a job, they DO learn English or according to those who want to make it seem like foreigners are so much better than Americans, already know our language "better than us", so apparently we don't have to know their language fluently to better accommodate them. And if me or you say go to another country for a job, we will have to take classes and know their language, it works both ways.

Trust me it is a fucking blessing that Americans don't have to learn a second language Who says Americans don't have to learn another language? Every school I've ever been to has made it mandatory. I did get that either. To the best of my knowledge, those 9 years of Spanish I took were required.

To the best of my knowledge, those 9 years of Spanish I took were required. in my defense I didn't say it wasn't mandatory, but that we don't put as much emphasis on it as we should from a younger age where it is easier to learn something as a new language.
